Cassandra III: The Arrival of Stephanie

CASSANDRA III: THE ARRIVAL OF STEPHANIE

Cassandra had been going about all of her normal activities while living in Casa de Esperanza but she was definitely picking up on all of the unusual occurrences.  For some reason, a lot of the residents seemed to be focused on Cassandra and several of them were overtly interested in making friends.  She became fast friends with Leslie Longtale, Angel Anderson, Brandy Bishop and Judy Jorgenson.  Judy was a fascinating red haired woman who was able to pierce your soul with her intense stares and deep sapphire blue eyes and was always intent on looking you directly in the eye when she talked to you as if every word she said had a deeper meaning.

Angel and Cassandra had the most in common and Angel became a quick protector when it came to Cassandra in the underlying darkness of the spiritually haunting atmosphere of Casa de Esperanza.  With all of the drugs and nefarious visitors to Esperanza, Angel seemed to feel it was her job to watch over the seemingly naïve Cassandra.  Judy on the other hand, wanted to impart some sort of knowledge to Cassandra.  Judy was always seeking out Cassandra and plying her with questions about life and what she thought about this and what she thought about that.  Cassandra would later find out, Judy was what some referred to as a witch.

Tammy Townsend, the dark one known as Mia, was still circling Cassandra and Cassandra was eating it up and falling completely for Tammy’s spiritually seductive routine.  As a child, Cassandra had never felt protected by her outwardly frail and fragile mother who raised her alone.  Tammy, on the other hand, felt like the strong maternal figure that Cassandra had always wanted and needed in her life.  Cassandra grew to love Tammy and her protective ways and always felt safe around Tammy.  It was easy to feel safe around Tammy because she always carried a gun and was never afraid to pull it out or use it on someone.  Tammy was also always surrounded by an assortment of bodyguards who were very willing and able to carry out her bidding.  Cassandra had finally found the mother she was always looking for, a mother who cared, that mother was Tammy.  Tammy was a true lioness who would do anything to protect her cubs and Tammy felt and decided that Cassandra was one of her cubs and Cassandra felt completely protected by Tammy.  Everyone knew not to do anything untoward to Cassandra or they would have to answer to Tammy.  In turn, Cassandra did anything Tammy told her to do.

Unbeknownst to Cassandra, there was a war going on at Casa de Esperanza for all of the occupants souls.  The war was a battle between the dark and light forces of good and evil and Esperanza, as everyone called it, was a real life spiritual battlefield.  Tammy had lured Cassandra into her world with the lure of protection and the projection of glamour that her life of a drug dealer provided.  But a new soldier of spiritual battle was about to enter Cassandra’s world.  A soldier from the side of good and the force of light.  Her name was Stephanie.

Stephanie was an unassuming woman.  There was much concern in the spiritual world in regards to the battle going on in the undercurrent of the city where the students of Esperanza resided.  The concern was all about Cassandra and would she choose the right or the wrong path.  The right or the wrong path was decided to be right or wrong based on who was choosing which side was right and which side was wrong. Cassandra was currently being courted and seduced by the dark side in the form of Tammy Townsend who again, was widely referred to in the city as just ‘Mia’.  Everyone knew that Cassandra fell in love with Tammy’s strength and protection so it was decided to send in Stephanie to show Cassandra there was an alternate and better form of protection.  The protection of the righteous and the protection of the light.

One day Cassandra was washing dishes and finishing up a few helpful chores at Tammy’s house when there was a knock on the door.  Everyone fell silent and looked to Tammy as she positioned herself on the couch in front of the door.  Tammy made sure her gun was easily retrievable from the seam of the couch and then made sure she was comfortable by wiggling her hips on the couch as she looked at the door and said while ready to pull her gun at a moment’s notice, “Okay, open the door.”  Someone opened the door as Cassandra looked on in awe at the always well prepared Tammy.  The person at the door said, “Hi.”  Tammy said, “Oh, hey Stephanie. I didn’t know who you were.”  Stephanie replied with a smile of reassurance, “It’s just me.”

The two women seemed to know each other well and also seemed to respect each other but at the same time they didn’t respond that warm to each other on a personal level.  As Stephanie entered the room she intentionally and purposefully caught Cassandra’s eye and stared at Cassandra intently.  Tammy seem to notice and said, “That’s Cassandra”, as she smiled a cat like smile at Stephanie.  Stephanie, never taking her smiling eyes off of Cassandra said, “High Cassandra”, and then smiled an even deeper smile.  Stephanie’s eyes and the way that she used them seemed to remind Cassandra of Judy but the warm and inviting feeling she felt reminded her of Steve.  Oh yeah, Cassandra was definitely in some ethereal dream and all the players of the dream were people that Cassandra knew instantaneously as some distant family of her own.  What was going on?

Stephanie did her best to try and take her eyes off Cassandra as Cassandra went back into the kitchen while Tammy took care of her business with Stephanie.  Stephanie was one of Tammy’s drug dealing associates who was quite the player in the city’s drug trafficking business as well.  Stephanie always purchased quite a bit of product from Tammy although no one knew any specifics of Stephanie’s business.  She preferred it that way.  Stephanie concluded her business with Tammy and then made sure to say goodbye to Cassandra as Cassandra politely and humbly said goodbye to her.  Cassandra had unbeknownst to her, just met and had been acknowledged and confirmed by the Queen of the Light, Stephanie.
