Cassandra I: Introducing Cassandra

CASSANDRA I: INTRODUCING CASSANDRA

Cassandra was a beautiful child which was evident from the very first breath she took.  Cassandra’s mother looked down at her newborn baby girl with awe and sorrow at the same time for she knew from the moment she was born that Cassandra was special.  To her mother, it was clear that the child was chosen.  Her mother, coming from a long line of psychic empaths knew that just because one was chosen, doesn’t mean it’s going to be a good life; but somehow, she felt deep inside that Cassandra would be alright.  In fact, her mother knew, the life of her child Cassandra would be blessed but extremely difficult to live.  Cassandra’s mother also knew that Cassandra would probably never know true happiness unless a miracle occurred because happiness was something that was reserved for those who didn’t know, and Cassandra would know; Cassandra would know everything.  Cassandra’s mother, Helen, came from a long line of seers and she knew that the fact that Cassandra was born on the night of the full moon in the sixth month of the sixth year of the sixth decade meant that Cassandra was doomed to see all.  Cassandra’s mother knew her child was marked from the moment of conception.  Would the child be happy? Would she survive the darkness?

Cassandra grew up as a seemingly normal child but Cassandra herself knew something was different.  Cassandra never felt like the other children and the other children never felt like her.  As a child, Cassandra didn’t talk much because she was too busy in her head trying to figure out what was going on.  The world that surrounded her was not the world she was used too and the world that she was used too was not the world she was in.  Cassandra honestly didn’t even know to question her world, all she knew was that her world was full of questions.

Cassandra politely endured her world and politely endured the woman who said she was her mother but Cassandra knew, someone was lying to her.  Cassandra looked in the mirror as a child and wondered who she was staring at, who was that person staring back at her in the mirror?  The person in the mirror that she saw appeared to be somewhat of a stranger; someone she wasn’t used to seeing in a mirror when she looked at herself.  Cassandra rarely spoke to others because she was always trying to figure out and understand all of the questions in her own mind.  Who were these people saying they were her family, who was this woman saying she was her mother, and more importantly, who was she herself and why did she feel the way she felt?

Eventually, Cassandra started to realize the truth.  She was clearly and most unsurprisingly to her, more than those around her.  She was different.  Cassandra realized that she knew when things were going to happen before they happened.  She knew when a dish was going to fall from the table and break.  She knew exactly when a school bell was going to ring.  She knew when a light was going to turn from green to yellow.  She knew when her cousin was going to fall and scrape his knee.  She knew when her father’s favorite football team was going to win and also when they were going to lose.  She knew when her mother was going to come home late from work.  She knew.  She knew what others didn’t know, the future.

Cassandra didn’t tell anyone of all the things she knew because the main thing she knew for sure, people who claimed to know were often considered crazy.  The last thing that Cassandra wanted was to be a person who was considered crazy.  She tried to shake all of the thoughts and most of the knowledge of things to come out of her head for many years.  Eventually Cassandra couldn’t discount or deny what was happening around her.  Finally, the truth had become very clear to Cassandra and she was starting to accept it, she was clearly and most definitely not like other people.  She was different.  Cassandra was alone.  Or was she?

Cassandra realized that she felt a craving; she felt a calling, she felt a drive; she felt a certain city calling her being, calling her soul, calling her name.  She put the calling and the craving out of her mind for many years to be stored with all of the other relevant and irrelevant knowledge that her mind stored.  Then suddenly one day, a distant family member called her with the suggestion to move to that same city, the city of the calling, the infamous city of her thoughts, and the infamous city of her dreams.  This family member told her it was a rare opportunity of free rent.  Cassandra’s young adult and frugal mind was intrigued.

Her distant family member who was one of the few she had a slight affection for suggested she move there.  The apartment building that was affording her family member free rent due to construction issues was called Casa de Esperanza.  Cassandra knew as soon as her distant family member mentioned Casa de Esperanza that she would be moving there and it would become her home.  Cassandra also knew just as she knew other things that this would be a momentous occurrence in her life and that it would also be life changing.  She didn’t care, she was ready to tackle destiny and destiny was ready to tackle her.

Cassandra had taken up nursing in her young adulthood and strangely, her hospice patient had expired in two short weeks of the phone call about the apartment with free rent due to his terminal illness and afforded Cassandra the opportunity to move to the city of her calling.  Cassandra was on her way to the mysterious Casa de Esperanza.  Unbeknownst to Cassandra, Casa de Esperanza was a vortex of spiritual energy which was in actuality a spiritual training ground for several young people like Cassandra who were chosen to be examined for future use and opportunities by both negative and positive entities.  Cassandra was on her way.  Cassandra had been chosen.  Cassandra was deigned to be chosen, she was one of them.

What was more surprising, was that the people who ran Casa de Esperanza and chose the young people for their spiritual training and studies had actually been chosen themselves.  Casa de Esperanza had actually been allowed to exist on a physical and spiritual plane because of children like Cassandra.  It was determined by the spiritual powers at play that Casa de Esperanza would help Cassandra on her way to helping the world, her world.  Casa de Esperanza in the Spanish language actually meant ‘House of Hope’.
