My Go To Heaven Card

MY GO TO HEAVEN CARD

by

Anthonystjoseph

They’ll darken your door

They’ll cross your path

Make sure when they do

You stand there and laugh

Some do not know

Some do not care

They spend their life falling

For the dark sides flare

I knew long ago

That I had made my choice

I knew long ago

That my choice was made

I choose to love

I wear a white glove

The voice I follow

Comes from above

When I see eyes

When I see dark

I run from the lies

I don’t feed the shark

It’s really quite simple

It’s not that hard

You’re not taking away

My Go to Heaven Card

Struggle

STRUGGLE

by

Anthonystjoseph

From the moment I saw you and right from the start

You held a special place deep in my heart

Your smile was wide

Your love seemed pure

I felt only friend

Of that I was sure

The years have passed

A decade or two

And now I feel

Your love was not true

You jump into my heart

With that same old smile

But now your smile seems to tear it apart

Deliberate it seems

Which is why it hurts so deeply

I need the means

To make my love grow sleepy

When it comes to your smile

When it comes to your laughter

I struggle and struggle

To put them in the hereafter

I want no more questions

I want no more wonder

The love I want

Does not come with blunders

I Still Believe

I STILL BELIEVE

by

Anthonystjoseph

No matter what life puts me through

No matter how much I endure

Somehow in my soul

I still remain sure

No matter what is taken from me

As the book says they may take all

No matter what bee stings me

I seem to rebel against the fall

No matter how many times

This harsh life of mine

Seems to make me search for

A trap door to decline

I still maintain my dreams

And even I wonder why

My faith itself seems

To be as boundless as the sky

No matter what befalls me

Deep in my heart

There is still the knowledge

A faith that refuses to be torn apart

The Color Game

THE COLOR GAME

by

Anthonystjoseph

There is something extremely more powerful than the elements coming together on our planet after a rainstorm and creating a rainbow then just the reflection of light.  It seems to me that some presence is trying to shine a light on the fact that we are too caught up on color in this world and also at the same time trying to remind us how beautiful color is in ALL it’s different shades and pastels.

We recently had a white man shoot down innocent people at what he considered a black church.  The commentary in our world is often focused on them and they which too often refers to people of colors.  In all my living years I have yet to meet two people of the same color who are the same person and are responsible for the same thing.  And still, in our world, you still have people of one color blaming all people of another color for the actions they believe are the responsibility of ‘one’ color as a whole.

And in my knowledge of this color game played on this planet, it angers me when I see or hear a white person telling a black person that this is not about color.  The truth of the matter is, that’s all this planet is mostly about as our oft present rainbow tells and reminds us of.  I watched a documentary once of a prison in Louisiana nicknamed Angola because it was built on the site of an old plantation filled with Angolan slaves.  At the time of this documentary the prison population was eighty seven percent black.  There was one offender in this documentary who was up for parole after serving twenty years on a sixty year sentence for a savage rape, of which, he had clearly been proven innocent.  The two white women who had accused this black man of this ‘savage’ rape were examined by a doctor after said rape and determined to still be ‘virgins’, as in their hymens were completely intact.  When the black prisoner had been put in a line-up twenty years earlier he was the only one in the line-up who was severely beaten and bloodied and the only one in handcuffs.  It was presumed that he was beaten and handcuffed and displayed in this manner in front of the two white women to identify because when asked if they could identify the man who supposedly raped them, the two white women said, “All n*ggers look alike!”  For some reason, which brought me to tears, this man was denied parole.  So when I, like Jill Scott, say I need to see proof before I publicly convict a man!  Now you know why.  The color game.

So the next time you see a Rainbow I hope you realize the planet we live on and the fact that someone is trying to tell all of us that we are people of ALL colors on this planet and when we learn how to get along it can and will be a beautiful thing.  Colors are beautiful when they are all placed and shown ‘together’.  It also strikes me as funny that rainbows come after rain showers; it seems to me that the rain may be some presence trying to baptize and cleanse the planet with water and then send a message.  This is the ‘Rainbow Planet’, this is the planet of COLOR!  And when all the colors get along, we may receive our pot of gold.
