The Eternals I: Cassandra's Awake

THE ETERNALS I: CASSANDRA’S AWAKE

by

Anthonystjoseph

Cassandra had remembered a lot of her past, but she hadn’t remembered it all…  Not by far.  Of course she had remembered her deep love for Steve and his soul from the first moment she met him and he spoke to her but a lot of her other memories still had not returned.

It was a thousand years ago when the last ‘Eternal’ gave birth to one of their own kind and thereby bringing one of their own back into the mortal coil of life.  For some reason, they had lost the ability to reproduce on their own.  All of the Eternals at that time started coming through select humans who specifically had psychic and empathic abilities to help the process of the Eternals remembering their previous existences, or lives so to speak.  The last Eternal to personally give birth was Tammy who was then married to Ramon.  Surprisingly so, that rebirth was to Cassandra.  Cassandra herself was actually known as the last Eternal who had rebirthed into the Eternal family itself; that life was of course before this current one she was living.

Now days, families were specifically chosen to rebirth the Eternals based on the genetic lineage of the family and its history of psychic abilities.  Cassandra’s mother Helen had been especially chosen due to her families long line of spiritual abilities dating back to Helen’s early German ancestry and its powerful ties to spirituality in that region.  Helen’s family knew exactly what they were involved in and they were rewarded heavily, financially speaking.  Not counting the fact that they appreciated, respected, and even enjoyed and looked forward to helping the Eternals whenever they could.  Helen loved Cassandra.

Helen knew from the moment Cassandra was conceived that she was going to have to give her up to her true family.  She also knew that Cassandra would outlive her by hundreds of years, possibly more.  Helen also knew that she could never break the pact that she and her family had made with the Eternals by revealing any truths to Cassandra about her real family or any of her abilities.  Helen also knew that she loved Cassandra more than anything the moment she was born.  She also knew that she was going to have to let Cassandra go and there was nothing she could do about it.  Helen’s great grandmother had given birth to an Eternal and explained to Helen that the separation was the most difficult thing she had ever endured but it had to happen as all Eternals usually return to their original family or at least leave altogether.  One way or another, they always leave…

Cassandra also remembered one of her and Steve’s most glorious lifetimes.  They had been commissioned by the tribe of Eternals to perform a very specific task for mankind as a whole.  They lived in Egypt and were king and queen of a glorious empire.  Steve had been given a very important job that was deemed necessary for the progress of the spirituality of man.  Humans had come to understand that there was a higher power and had started calling that higher power God.  The problem was, humans in their combined lack of understanding and learning to understand had decided everything that had a pulse or even a name had a God.  Humans were worshiping God’s in all forms.  To say that humans were under a system of polytheism, as in worshiping many Gods, was an understatement.  Humans worshiped everything from chickens to cows, and from rice to wheat.  They were out of control in their confusion.

As king of Egypt, or Pharaoh as he was called, Steve was tasked to bring humanity away from worshiping false God’s or in the true sense, God’s that did not actually exist.  It was a difficult task and would bring Egypt as a civilization to its knees.  Everywhere you looked in the beginning of Steve’s reign you could see a temple dedicated to a different God of animal, mineral, or vegetable.  The journey would bring Steve and his wife many enemies.  You see, Steve was Akhenaten, the father of monotheism.  Steve was the first leader in mankind’s history to develop and bring forth the idea of only one God.  And of course, his soulmate and wife Cassandra, was none other than the great Nefertiti.

Together they ruled over Egypt during the eighteenth dynasty and did their best to bring about positive change which was their mission.  They ruled for seventeen years.  Sadly, soon after Akhenaten’s death, Egypt returned to polytheism and started again worshipping many Gods.  But due to Steve’s efforts and Cassandra’s support, the idea of monotheism and only worshipping one God was born.  Theirs was a difficult but wondrous journey but the two of them had been through their lives together.  They had helped bring humanity to its current and arguably flourishing point of existence but the job of the Eternals was not over at all to say the least.

The leader of the spiritual underworld commonly known as The Dark Lord had an existing and ongoing war with the Eternals.  The Lord of the underworld hated The Eternals and despised their existence on Earth.  The Dark Lord felt it was a complete betrayal of life itself that they got to live their lives out in the mortal coil of life and thereby not giving him the chance to possess their very souls.  However, a few Eternals had forsaken life on Earth and had actually made it to the underworld and they were the worst and most despicable evil clowns one could imagine and a few had even progressed and actually became demons.

The Dark Lord was aware that there had been a new rebirthing of Eternals and also knew that one of the most powerful and important Eternals was in the new cycle of rebirths.  That Eternal was none other than Cassandra herself.  Cassandra’s ability to see and predict the future was a gift that many in the spiritual world wanted to possess and the Dark Lord was definitely one who wanted to take advantage of her gift.  He had suffered a few losses lately and having Cassandra by his side would have prevented that completely.

The location of the new rebirthing of Eternals had been discovered by The Dark Lord and he was planning to take Cassandra and use her for his own purposes.  He would not fail this time in his attempt to capture her.  He knew he would only have one chance.  He used his knowledge in finding the current location of the rebirthing.  He knew that the Eternals always used a city that was on the same latitudinal line as Bethlehem for some God forsaken reason which he refused to even gather or try and process.  He always felt it was some silly attachment to another famous resurrection that he forbid anyone to talk about…

The Lord of the underworld revered and referred to as His Royal Darkness would send one of his most diabolical clowns seeking promotion to demon to capture Cassandra.  He would send someone who actually knew both Steve and Cassandra from a previous life.  He would task a clown who actually came from their very own lineage who despised them almost as much as he did…  He would send Sinister Seth.

So there they were, both Steve and Cassandra standing on the porch of the house where Cassandra had met Steve and accepted a role in The Eternals once again.  There they were looking into each other’s eyes thinking of puddles and rain…  They turned to leave the house and return to the City of Eternals where there true home resided and then they saw him.  It was standing there staring at both of them with complete malice in its empty heart.  It was none other than their former family member and current servant of The Dark Lord currently and for the rest of time going by the name of Sinister Seth.

Cassandra VIII: The Choosing

CASSANDRA VIII: THE CHOOSING

by

Anthonystjoseph

Tammy, Stephanie, and Steve as Cassandra’s closest family sat in a small room and discussed the progress of Cassandra and her memory returning.  They were so happy with her progress and Steve professed that Cassandra had felt their ancient and familiar love immediately.  Steve couldn’t be happier with the return of his soulmate and no one in this room was going to stop the two of them from getting back together again.

Steve looked around the room at his two sisters, Tammy and Stephanie.  He thought about the centuries on top of centuries, rather, millennia on top of millennia that they had returned to their family and rebirth after rebirth, he and Cassandra had never forgotten their love.  The real truth was that they were all direct descendants of Eve and even though modern legend referred to their kind as vampires as in the fact that they lived forever; they had the myth very confused.  Only the dark ones in the family had chosen to get into the art or act of drinking blood.  Blood was never necessary to their kind and never would be.  They actually lived forever because upon their rebirth into a new life, or new body as Steve thought to himself was more aptly put, they remembered their previous existence and always in some way sought out the family.

Ramon was the leader of the dark ones and had become a comical, eccentric, caricature of his own minds creation.  He practiced dark arts and embarrassed almost everyone in the family with the way he used mortal humans for his own personal amusement.  He had developed a large cultish following that believed he had special powers and granted, he did have a few, but nothing compared to what he thought in his own mind.  Stephanie in her longevity in her current lifeform could wipe Ramon off the face of the earth at any time but they had all vowed long ago to never destroy or harm one another so she let him live in his fantasy world that he had created with his human castoffs.

They sat in the room waiting for Cassandra to arrive and hoped she would once again choose the family and rejoin.  Steve had no doubt she would walk through the door.  Tammy and Stephanie weren’t so sure.  A few, very few, had decided in the past to not rejoin the family.  Very few had decided to leave what was known in the spiritual world as ‘The Eternals’.

Tammy had finally sat Cassandra down along with Stephanie and informed her of the family and all that it meant.  Cassandra listened as Stephanie as the leader of the clan informed her of her ancestry and how as descendants of Eve they lived forever through what she would know as reincarnation.  Cassandra had known all along she was different and had long ago accepted that she had lived before so it wasn’t as unbelievable to her as one would think.  She listened as Tammy explained that the drug Chrystal Meth was just used because it sped up ones thinking process but it was not a drug they recommended or even used.  Stephanie laughed when Cassandra said, “Good, because I was getting tired of the stuff and I saw how badly it has been affecting my friends.”

Cassandra jumped and looked startled, “Then why do you sell it!?”  Stephanie laughed and responded, “We just did this as a temporary thing to bring out certain family members who had recently been reborn.  We have found that speeding up the thinking process helps the rebirth go a lot smoother.  We have no need or desire to be in the drug trade.  You must be able to imagine that money is no object of concern for us since we have been around since the invention of the actual idea of money.”  Tammy interjected, “Cassandra, all of your money from your previous lives is in your own accounts that only you and your soulmate know of.”  Cassandra began to cry as she thought of Steve…  She immediately knew that he was her soulmate and her husband and started to cry even harder with tears of joy.  Her memory started returning at that moment.  She left Tammy and Stephanie and returned to her apartment in a fog of remembrance.  Although she was in a fog, she had a new strength and conviction in who she was and the fact that all she had felt her entire life was true.  She was different.

She left her apartment and knew that it would be the last time that she would see it and its belongings.  She had made her choice.

She walked up to the large home that she remembered from her former life.  The butler opened the door and then she approached the study.  She opened the door and walked in and there he sat.  She walked up to Steve in his tuxedo and kissed him passionately as he returned the kiss with even more passion.  She remembered everything and knew that she would not have to go through this situation again for hundreds of years as their lifespan was longer than normal human beings.

She held Steve as she looked forward to a life full of puddles and he held her as he himself looked forward to a lifetime of making it rain.

They walked out of the house to leave the city and return to their true home and that’s when they saw him.  Across the street, there he stood.  Cassandra screamed!

Cassandra VII: The Calling

CASSANDRA VII: THE CALLING

by

Anthonystjoseph

Cassandra lay in her bed thinking about the day before and her discussion with Stephanie.  Stephanie’s ominous warning of the force awakening inside of Cassandra being possible to choose the dark side was unnecessary.  No matter what, she wouldn’t let that happen.  She was a good soul and she knew that and nothing would ever change that fact, but however, she did feel such a strong pull to power; she knew for herself, only darkness seeks out power, at least that’s what she thought.  And what did Stephanie mean by ‘true family’.  That was a complete puzzle to Cassandra’s mind; true, she never felt like she belonged to her birth family even sometimes thinking she was adopted but all kids felt that at one time or another.  At least that’s what her mother told her.

Something was seriously stirring inside Cassandra and she felt a power and force awakening that was intense and incredible and most of all, scary.  She only knew that the only times now that she felt completely safe were when she was with Tammy, Stephanie, and most of all, Steve.  Why hadn’t she seen him in almost a week?  She had grown to treasure her times with Steve.  She had grown to need him.  The last time they were together he actually let her cook him breakfast and stayed most of the day as they talked and laughed and laughed and talked.  She had never felt life as she did when she was with Steve; it was as if the world actually existed for her alone when she was with him and that everything in the universe really did have true meaning.  She needed him now.  There was a knock on her door.  She went to answer it.  Before she opened it she knew.  She opened the door and it was Steve.

He looked at her as tears welled up in her eyes and said, “I told you that whenever you needed me, I would be there.”  She smiled so big and jumped into his arms as he lifted her and kissed her all over her face while she started to laugh and then he carried her to her bed…  Incoming puddle!

She lay there in the bed completely spent after their passionate lovemaking and again just stared at his sleeping face while letting the warmth of his being there envelope her completely.  He again, slowly opened his eyes as if he could sense her staring at his face and slowly he leaned over and kissed her.  He then held her close and continued to kiss her as she basked in his love and he basked in hers.  She broke from his kisses and asked, “Why do you leave me?”  He looked her deep in the eyes and with solemn sincerity said, “I have never left you. You are my wife.”

Cassandra could barely focus later that day when she was at Tammy’s.  Tammy could have ordered five beatings in front of her and shot two people and Cassandra wouldn’t have noticed or paid attention.  All she could think about was Steve stating that she was his wife.  As she sat in the kitchen chair she crossed her legs and stuck her hands between her legs to warm them as she thought of their lovemaking.  Of course some of the attraction to Steve was carnal but the feelings she had for him were so much more.  She loved Steve from the moment she met him and the comfort her entire being felt when he was around was intoxicating but what was it all about and why did he call her his wife.  She didn’t even know his last name or where he lived or even how to reach him.  Yet he seemed to be true to his word, whenever she needed him, he was there.

All of a sudden Tammy screamed, “Cassandra!”  She awoke from her thoughts and said, “What!?  What’s wrong?!”  Tammy looked at her strangely, “Girl, I have been sitting here saying your name over and over again and you just stared into the distance!”  Cassandra looked nervous, “Oh, I’m sorry.  I was just thinking.”  Tammy stared her directly in the face and slowly said, “Thinking of Steve.”  Cassandra was stunned.  She looked at Tammy and said, “How? Who…?”  Tammy cut her off, “I know everything and everyone and I certainly know Steve.”

Cassandra was even more stunned.  She stared at Tammy as Tammy sat down next to her and began to speak, “Look Cassandra, I know you’re going through a difficult time and you’re not exactly sure what is going on but just be strong.  Whatever you do, make sure you just stay strong.  I remember my awakening and how confused I was…”  Cassandra’s head started to spin and she couldn’t believe that her friend Tammy was saying the things she was actually saying.  She heard Tammy’s voice in the distance “…you have to know that the family…”  At the word family Cassandra fell from her chair and lay collapsed on the floor due to the fact that she fainted.  Tammy screamed for Paige to help.  Paige came running into the kitchen and saw Cassandra’s body on the floor and looked at Tammy and said, “You told her!”  Tammy smirked and said, “Not exactly.”

Cassandra woke up and was lying on the living room couch in Tammy’s house.  Tammy sat next to her on the edge of the couch while Paige and Stephanie stood over her.  She tried to sit up and they stopped her.  Tammy said, “Slow down Cassandra, just try and get your bearings.  We all know you’re dealing with a lot as we all have gone through the same thing upon our rebirths.”  Cassandra said, “Rebirths?”  “Yes Cassandra, you are being reborn into the family.”  There goes that word again, ‘family’.  “Tammy please, tell me what’s going on?”  Tammy just shook her head and looked at Paige and Stephanie.  Stephanie stepped forward, “Cassandra, there is only so much we can tell you.  It is necessary in all rebirths that you remember the family on your own.  Just know that we all love you and want the best for you and that strength is your only protection.  A rebirthing can be difficult for the strongest of us but know this; throughout time you have always been one of the strongest.  You’ve already accepted our lifestyle, well most of it, and you’ve already met your eternal husband.  You are home.  Just relax.”  Cassandra rolled her eyes and lay back down and just decided it was too much to think about.  She looked at all of them and again felt the peace and comfort that she felt when she was around them and then she just smiled and said, “Can somebody get me some water?”  They all looked at each other and then burst into laughter as Stephanie went and got Cassandra a glass of water.

Cassandra sat there on the couch as Tammy was busy on the phone taking care of business.  Stephanie had left to distribute her wares to her various drug lieutenants while Paige sat in the front of the house near the door for protection and just busied himself cleaning his knives.  Tammy got off the phone and Cassandra looked at her and said, “Does somebody want to tell me about this family that everyone is talking about and why do I belong?” Tammy smiled and said, “You don’t belong to it Cassandra.  You are part of it.  Your memory is slowly returning to you as we speak and as you live amongst us.  You already have remembered your husband and it’s clear you remember me and Stephanie, we’re your best friends and have always been your best friends.”  Cassandra stared at Tammy and tried to remember more as she laid her head in her hands and said, “I’m trying to remember!  All that I know is that I love you guys for some reason and I can’t seem to breathe normal when I’m not around Steve!  All I can think about is Steve!  He said he would be there when I need him and I need him NOW!”  The doorbell rang.  Tammy got up and opened it and said, “Speak of the devil.  I mean speak of the God, right Steve.”  “Watch it Tammy”, Steve said as he went over and scooped up the weeping Cassandra.  He kissed her face and then she kissed his lips as he carried her out of Tammy’s house and off to her own home.

He whispered in her ear as he carried her out of Tammy’s house, “Relax my love, we have all the time in the world for you to understand.  There’s no rush.”  This time when they got to Cassandra’s house, Steve lay her in her bed and proceeded to the kitchen and he cooked dinner for her.  As she lay there with the smell of the well cooked meal reaching her nostrils she thought about this family that was all but consuming her entire existence.  She actually welcomed the idea and for some reason, knew it was inevitable.  She thought about Tammy and how she had become her best friend and Stephanie and how she had become her protector and confidant as well and smiled to herself knowing the city itself had called her.  She continued smiling in knowing that Casa de Esperanza had proved its name in giving her hope.  She was alive.  She had been called.  She had answered the calling.

Cassandra VI: The Awakening

CASSANDRA VI: THE AWAKENING

by

Anthonystjoseph

Cassandra fit into her new life of drugs, ceremonial beatings, and drug lords who threw parties and claimed to be able to call up demons amazingly well.  She still longed for the elusive Steve and still tended to her good friend Tammy’s needs as well as continuing to roam the night with her posse.  Once again they were all at Wolf’s which had become a favorite spot of the entire crew.  Suddenly and once again, Ramon came in to the bar.  Cassandra watched him closely as soon as he entered with all of his boys in tow.  He as well watched her.  Cassandra and Ramon were like two cats prowling each other with food in between them.

Ramon slowly sauntered over to Cassandra and again invited her to a gathering after the bar closed.  Members of Cassandra’s posse gave her a pleading look because they loved his last party and a few of them had special eyes for some of his handsome boys, all of which were extremely good looking.  Cassandra politely accepted Ramon’s invitation in spite of his previous claims to being able to call up demons.  She was sure he was joking about demons anyway, so why not enjoy the fun?  Why not let her posse enjoy his boys?  And who knows, maybe she should disobey Steve’s command to stay away from Ramon; she even smiled to herself wondering if she went near Ramon again, Steve might show up.  It was a plan.

The bar closed and they all went to Ramon’s gathering across the street at his house and everyone was once again enjoying themselves.  This time, another handsome man came around with the huge silver tray of lines of Chrystal Meth and there was no signs of Jonathon at all.  The party was going strong and most of Cassandra’s posse was paired up with Ramon’s boys and Cassandra headed to the bathroom.  On her way to the bathroom a bedroom door opened and Jonathon pulled her in and quickly shut the door behind her.  He seemed a lot different than the first time she met him but he was still his handsome and alluring self all the same.  He said, “I need to talk to you Cassandra.  You’re not safe here.”  Again, first Steve and now Jonathon wanted her to stay away from Ramon.  She said, “What do you mean?”  “Oh Cassandra, you’re so special and so sweet but so naïve.”  “I am not naïve!”  He suddenly got even more nervous, “Keep your voice down! Ramon hears everything!”

Jonathon sat on the bed and bent his head down.  Then he spoke, “Cassandra, haven’t you noticed that we all seem special here in this city? Haven’t you noticed that we’re all a little different?”  Cassandra thought and knew that everything he said was true.  “Jonathon, I do know things and I do know that something is going on but…”  “Cassandra! Ramon wants me to use my powers of charm and my powers of persuasion that I have with women to lure you into his ‘lair’.  He has chosen you because of your powers.  He pulled her down on the bed next to him and held her close.  “Cassandra, I knew the moment I saw you how special you were and knew I couldn’t fool you and didn’t want to fool you.”  He opened his shirt and to Cassandra’s surprise there was a medical catheter, which she recognized from her job as a nurse, going directly into his heart.  For some reason the catheter was set up so fluid could be drained directly from his heart and she also knew that the only fluid in one’s heart is blood.

Cassandra was in shock.  She stared at the catheter as Jonathon started to weep.  She didn’t know what to do but hold him.  He continued to weep as he said, “I’m a prisoner of Ramon’s Cassandra. I must do whatever he says.  I don’t want this to happen to you. He’s a very powerful member of our tribe.  You have to get out of here.  I’m risking my life even telling you this but leave as soon as you can.”  Cassandra placed her hand on his beautiful face and once again looked at his precious lips as she stood up and wanted nothing more than to take all of his pain away; this beautiful but captive creature who apparently risked everything to try and save her from the horrible creature in the other room named Ramon.  She left Jonathon in the bedroom and rejoined the party.

One of Ramon’s boys from his posse shouted right away as soon as Cassandra came into the room, “Cassandra!  Dance with Ramon!  He’s a great dancer!”  Cassandra regained her composure and then couldn’t help but accept the offer since her and Ramon were standing alone in the middle of the living room.  Cassandra didn’t miss a beat as she swayed and decided she would soothe the beast of a man with her beautiful singing voice which never failed her in difficult times.  She would sing to the beast.

Ramon and Cassandra danced to the softly playing music in the background and then she began to sing to Ramon and he was immediately surprised and taken aback in a pleasant way that was clear by his smile.  She sang one of her favorite songs that fit the occasion.  She started low in her pleasant soprano, “Maybe I’m a girl. Maybe I’m a lonely girl who’s in the middle of something; that she doesn’t really understand...”  She smiled and twirled around at the end of that line and Ramon released her.  The song completely fit the situation she was in and everyone in the party was taken with her beautiful voice.  Even her own posse had never heard her sing so even they were mesmerized.  She continued with a louder soprano as she held out her arms, “Maybe I’m a girl, and maybe you’re the only one who can ever help me…”  She pushed Ramon back onto the couch as she sang that last line and he was as they put it, ‘done’.  Ramon was completely hypnotized by the young creature who stood in front of him with the beautiful voice of a goddess.  She kneeled down between his legs as he sat on the couch and leaned into his ear and sang again, “Maybe you’re the only one who can ever help me…”  He was transfixed as she raised her left hand and snapped her fingers which everyone in her posse knew that that meant it was time to go.  They all stood up as Ramon sat there in a hypnotic trance and they all walked out of the party as Ramon just sat and stared at Cassandra as she walked out the front door.  He thought to himself, he would have her.  She would be his and no one would stand in the way.  He had to have her.  He had to have this creature who leaders of the tribes said would propel any clan to greatness.  She would be his.

They all walked out of the party and all Cassandra could think of was the poor and beautiful Jonathon who sat in the back bedroom claiming to be a total prisoner of someone he completely feared.  All she could think of was Jonathon until she looked up from the houses porch and saw the man standing on the street next to a tree, it was Steve.

Once again, nothing much was said but again they went home to her place and again they made passionate love until the sun rose.  Once again he took her in the morning as he awoke to her staring at his sleeping face.  Once again he stood in his majestic greatness and dressed as she lay there in her puddle of love almost out of breath and completely spent.  She was his and he knew it and there was nothing she could or wanted to do about it.  She lay there after he left pondering her life and all around her.

Her inner world had always seemed magical and she knew that she could see and predict things but now the outer world was becoming as magical as her inner world.  There was Steve who seemed like he had always been there in the back of her mind waiting for her.  Then there was Tammy who seemed to be a blessing and someone who really cared for Cassandra…  Then there were all of the other people who surrounded her in her life right now who all appeared to want the best for her.  What was going on?  Somehow on some level, she felt she knew.

She lay there thinking about last night when she sang to Ramon and he drifted off to another world listening to her voice.  At one point while she sang he even closed his eyes as if to clearly picture that world she had taken him to.  She jolted herself away from all of the thoughts running through her head, she had to get to Tammy’s and tend to business and help her friend.

When she arrived at Tammy’s all was well and she was thankful for that and the fact that there were no buckets of chicken around the house.  She wasn’t in the mood to witness another full-fledged gang beating at the hands of her friends.  Tammy was busy counting her money while Paige was cleaning his knives and then rubbing them with garlic while he smiled.  Paige rubbed all of his knives with fresh cloves of garlic because he said it made the wounds fester.  Cassandra knew this to be true as she had once barely broke the skin on her finger with the knife he had given her and it swelled up on her and took a long time to heal.  She went to the kitchen and made sure everything was clean as she liked to help keep the house tidy.

The doorbell rang and Tammy said, “Hold on!”  She put her money away and then positioned herself on her couch and checked to make sure her gun was in between the cushions and that she could reach it easily.  She then wiggled and swayed in her seat to get her bearings and then uttered the usual, “Okay, open the door.”

Stephanie came in with her bright smile and her usual large order of Meth to distribute to her people on her side of town.  After Tammy and Stephanie finished their business, Stephanie came into the kitchen.  Cassandra offered her something to drink as they sat down at the kitchen table to chat.  Stephanie suddenly became very serious.  She said she desperately needed to tell Cassandra something.  Cassandra knew something was coming and knew it was important as she always felt that Stephanie was special in a similar kind of way to herself.  Cassandra felt that Stephanie could see things to come as well.  Stephanie continued, “Cassandra, I need to tell you that your spirituality is awakening.  But it’s very important that you keep it under control because you should be warned, it can go either way.”  Cassandra knew all of this to be true because she herself felt the tug of the forces of light and dark in her soul during this time in her life.

Stephanie continued, “I want you to know that you’re about to join your true family.  We have been waiting for you.  I also want to tell you that you need to be strong.  And another thing, stay away from Ramon.”

Cassandra V: The Wolves

CASSANDRA V: THE WOLVES

by

Anthonystjoseph

After the big fight at the nightclub where Cassandra beat up the three jealous girls, her and her posse found a nice quite neighborhood bar to enjoy their evenings.  At least that’s what they thought; the name of the bar was called Wolf’s.  The bar wasn’t called wolves, it was called Wolf’s, suggesting the bar belonged to a wolf and lo and behold, it did.  Cassandra actually liked the bar a lot because everyone seemed to be on the same vibe, as in being a little amped on Chrystal Meth but at the same time everyone was mellow.

One night an extremely enigmatic man came into the bar who looked to be about sixty years old and yet all of the boys that came in with him that seemed to be in his posse were in their early twenties.  Cassandra and her group knew all of the drug crowd in the city but these characters were new.  The elderly man had sunglasses on even though it was nighttime and was dressed in leather shorts, a white tank top, a leather vest, and furs with actual animal heads still attached to them draped around his neck; he was quite a character indeed.  He pulled the same move that Cassandra often pulled when she entered a club.  He walked in past the entrance and immediately stopped, he surveyed the crowd as his posse of young men stood behind him, then seemed to choose a spot for them to ‘set up’ and headed for it.  Cassandra smiled at the similar behavior.  Cassandra wasn’t sure, but she thought the old man stared her down through his sunglasses as he paused on her crowd in his survey move but something felt different about this man.  Little did she know, he had completely stared her down and she was his complete reason for being there.  His name was Ramon.

Ramon had one goal in mind when he came to the bar that night and that was winning Cassandra’s favor.  Ramon wanted one thing and one thing only.  He wanted Cassandra to join his clan because her untapped talent to predict and discern the future would be the key to his clans’ future success.  He decided he would befriend the naïve creature and he had already created a plan.  He would use his most handsome and charismatic boy to win her heart and draw her into his circle.  She would be putty in his hands when her heart belonged to his boy.  All women fell for his number one boy, they didn’t have a chance.  Yes, Ramon would use his favorite weapon against women, he would use Jonathon.

Ramon finally made his way over to Cassandra and her group as the evening had went on and invited her and her friends to a small gathering.  Cassandra politely and happily accepted the invitation as a few of her group had already paired up with a few in his group and the evening showed promise for some pleasant fun on all sides.  Besides, for some reason Cassandra was attracted to the charms of the elderly Ramon, he seemed to give her some sort of fatherly support in his manner of conversation and the way he enveloped her with his concern in their short conversation.  She looked forward to the gathering.  And a gathering it was.

Ramon’s house was a short walk from the bar, in fact, it was almost kitty corner to the bar.  It was a large home that had a deceptive front.  From the outside it looked small but when you entered the house it was rather large and inviting with a huge fireplace in the front room that opened to a large dining room that was used in this case as an extension to the living room with just more couches.  The house seemed to be set up to entertain gatherings just such as this one.  Someone started music in the background that was set at a low volume as to not interrupt or deter any conversation and everyone was invited to sit or enjoy the surroundings.  People paired off and everyone was having a rather good time as an extremely handsome man entered the room.  Cassandra noticed him immediately as he noticed her.  He was carrying a large sterling silver tray that could hold a large pizza but on this tray there were lines of Chrystal Meth that was freely and ceremoniously offered to everyone at the gathering.  When the handsome man came to Cassandra with the tray she modestly indulged in one of the smaller lines on the tray as the young man seemed to pierce her soul with his stare.  He offered her another line from the tray in a hand gesture and she declined.  He then leaned close to her and whispered with his beautiful and supple pink lips almost touching her face as her heart seemed to stop, “Are you sure?”  She managed a slight, ‘yea’ as he leaned even closer and whispered in her ear, “My name’s Jonathon.”

Cassandra watched Jonathon walk away with the tray and couldn’t help but notice his muscular frame and his beautiful blond hair that seemed to frame his perfect face like a master stylist had designed it to do so.  And she couldn’t stop thinking about those pink lips that that velvet voice came through.  Jonathon himself, surprised by his own desire, couldn’t believe how beautiful and fresh Cassandra was.  He loved her porcelain skin and long blond hair but most of all it was the curve of her thighs and the small of her waist that he wanted to touch, wanted to pierce.  He had seen beautiful women before but something was definitely different about this Cassandra.  He would enjoy this assignment.  Ramon promised him a beauty but Cassandra had something else to offer.  He felt something for the first time in a long time.

All of a sudden Ramon shouted to the crowd in his gruff elderly voice and broke the spell that Cassandra seemed to be under, “Is everyone having a good time.”  There were sounds of agreement from everyone in the room.  Ramon continued, “Good, because I don’t want to have to call up Abaddon, Kali, or Lilith, because you know I will” as he looked at Cassandra and winked.  Cassandra was extremely puzzled at his statement and more so at his wink.  As Ramon let out a laugh that eventually turned guttural in its sound, she turned to a friend and said, “Who was he talking about when he said ‘calling up Kali and so and so’?”  Her friend responded, “Those are demons that his friends say he can call up.”  Cassandra was taken aback, “Oh really!?!”  Cassandra felt that now it was time to go.

At that moment the front door was opened and Steve walked in.  He stared straight at Cassandra as they locked eyes.  It was as if Cassandra could hear nor see anyone else in the house.  The only thing she saw was Steve standing there in the doorway with a disappointed look on his face.  He walked up to her and grabbed her hand and pulled her up from the couch.  As tall as he was he had to bend his face down to hers and told her in his own magical voice, “We’re leaving”.  She said okay as they walked out of the party which was actually a blessing on top of a blessing; one, she was reunited with Steve and two, she was done with Mister Demon ‘caller’.  Before they walked out, Cassandra told one of her posse, “I want everyone out of here now!  Mister Ramon and his demons can party without my people.  Make it happen.”

Cassandra and Steve went back to her place.  Steve explained he didn’t have a car, he seemed to have nothing, nothing but her heart; he had that completely.  As they say, she was ‘done’.

Cassandra called her regular cab driver to pick her and Steve up and they both went to her place.  She couldn’t believe Steve was there with her in her own apartment.  She loved him from the moment he said, ‘Sit down, talk to me’, and now he was here in her home.  He sat down as if he was totally comfortable and just started to watch her remove her coat.  Who was this man who seemed to knowingly touch every part of her being?  What was happening?  He smiled a large and warm smile and said, “You’re funny”.  She stared at him and said, “Why am I funny?”  “Because you are.  You act like you don’t know what’s happening and on some level I think you don’t.  But you know Cassandra, you always know.  That’s why creatures like Ramon are surrounding you and wanting to possess you and your skills…”  All of a sudden he jumped up and grabbed her and pulled her close and kissed her with a kiss that seemed to sink his tongue into her entire being.  She actually collapsed under the spell of his physical and mental affection as he held her up and continued to devour her and her soul.  He carried her to her bed and made passionate love to her until the sun came up which thankfully was only an hour away.  She didn’t know how much more she could have taken.

She lay there in the morning while he slept next to her and couldn’t help but stare at this man who owned her heart and soul.  She had waited her whole life for him to appear and now he had.  As she stared at his face he slowly opened his eyes and looked directly into her soul as usual and said, “Good morning Princess.”  “Good Morning.”  He grabbed her again and this time slowly devoured her body as she willingly gave his body everything it requested.  He then made love to her like he was an animal and she loved every second of his seeking his own pleasure through her vessel.  Again, she was done.

Suddenly, he stood up from the bed and told her he was leaving.  He had things to tend to.  She lay there in the bed physically spent as she stared at his majestic frame standing like an emperor while he put on his clothes like last night and this morning was just another day at the office.  She couldn’t even speak because of the thoughts rapidly going through her head.  Would she see him again?  How could she contact him?  Where was he going?  Where did he come from?  How did he know how to find her at Ramon’s?  Who was he?  He turned to her amidst her thoughts, “I come from our world, your world, you know who I am, you know what I am, you will remember.  Whenever you need me I will be there.  And one last thing, stay away from Ramon.”  She stared at him still not saying anything while dumbfounded that he had read her mind.  He bent down and kissed her on the forehead and then walked out of her life again.  She was completely done.

After laying in her bed for an hour or so with a dazed look on her face she realized she needed to get up out of her bed and her puddle of love and get back to Tammy’s.  She hadn’t seen Tammy in a few days so she had better check in with her current benefactor and friend, Tammy, also known as Mia.  Tammy was busy tending to her drug business when Cassandra arrived and gave Cassandra a big smile when she walked in.  Tammy noticed a change in her little protégé so she mentioned it immediately.  Cassandra confessed that she had seen Steve again and this time he had come home to her place.  She left out meeting Ramon who she felt was another drug dealer in town that Tammy may have known so she willingly left that aspect of her days off out of her retelling.  Unbeknownst to Cassandra, Tammy knew Steve, Ramon, and everything that happened and let Cassandra herself decide when to confess everything that had occurred.

Tammy turned to business immediately and told Cassandra to sit down and don’t say a word.  Paige entered the room from the back of the house with two of his lieutenants.  There was a sudden knock at the door.  Two local dealers came in that were in the past two of Tammy’s most lucrative distributers.  Things had changed.  Now they both had bumps all over their faces and arms that they had scratched into sores.  Clearly both of them had taken to doing their own Chrystal Meth in excess rather than selling it.  Tammy sat on her sofa eating directly out of a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken as she calmly said, “Where’s my money boys?”  The two dealers nervously looked at Paige and his lieutenants who had no smiles whatsoever on their faces and then back at Tammy and said, “We were robbed!”  Tammy took another bite of chicken and in a calm manner as she stared at them while they looked at her pleadingly and she finished chewing her new bite, “Robbed my ass.  Let me introduce you to ‘Rob’.  Do it Paige.”  Paige and his lieutenants jumped and immediately began to beat the two dealers and didn’t hold anything back as Cassandra sat there in awe at what she was seeing.  She had heard about what the drug people called ‘tax jobs’ but she had never personally witnessed one.  She watched and felt sad for the two dealers as Paige smiled when punching the main one over and over again in the face while the two lieutenants kicked the other one continuously in the stomach and head.  As Cassandra sat there and watched, Tammy suddenly spoke to her while the beating was still going on, “You want a piece of chicken Cassandra?”  Cassandra woke up from her shock and looked at Tammy holding a chicken leg in her direction and politely declined.

Cassandra IV: The Downward Spiral

CASSANDRA IV: THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL

Cassandra had become all but completely emerged in Tammy’s life and drug trade although she did everything but sell drugs herself.  Cassandra had been working as a private duty nurse for two hospice patients when all of a sudden both of them had died in the same week.  Since both patients had died at the same time she was allowed to receive unemployment benefits.  The unemployment checks were smaller than her normal income so Cassandra decided to lower her food budget by indulging in the Crystal Meth drug that Tammy sold known as speed since it lowered your appetite and also because everyone gave it to her for free.  They gave it to her for free to try and garner Cassandra’s support with issues involving Tammy since Tammy respected Cassandra’s opinion and actually sought out Cassandra’s advice on a lot of issues.  Lots of people in the drug world actually started to revere and fear Cassandra almost as much as they did Tammy since Cassandra seemed to be Tammy’s one and only confidant.  Tammy and Cassandra had almost become inseparable.  If Cassandra was awake she was most likely at Tammy’s side.  Tammy was so protective that she would force Cassandra to go home after three days of drug business and tell her to sleep.  Sometimes Cassandra would go home and sometimes she would go out with her posse.  Tammy was, for some reason, overly protective of Cassandra.

Cassandra became enthralled in the world of Chrystal Meth not so much for the drug as for the amazing human creatures it seemed to attract.  She loved most of the people around her from the moment she met them.  Everyone who used the drug was so real and open.  Little did she know that the dark side of some of these very same creatures would reveal its ugly head.  Most of these same people should and would leave the world of Chrystal Meth behind completely.  One person who Cassandra had an extreme affinity for and he also for her was Tammy’s number one hit man named Paige.  It was a very strong rumor that Paige had killed eleven people and almost everyone believed it especially after meeting him in person.  One time Cassandra had noticed a suspicious person in Casa de Esperanza who was up to no good and she immediately went to Paige’s apartment and informed him of the unknown intruder into their precious drug sanctity.  Paige jumped up from his bed with a smile on his face and said, “Perfect! That’s just what I need to wake me up in the morning, to stab somebody.”  You see, Paige’s weapon of choice was a knife and he loved his knives and always carried more than one.

Paige showed his love for Cassandra one day when he sat her down and gave her the most beautiful knife she had ever seen.  The knife had a dark mahogany wood handle and came with its’ own case that snugly and perfectly attached to the belt on her waist.  Cassandra took to wearing the knife wherever she went.  She even wore the knife to nightclubs on the rare occasion that she went out into the normal world and enjoyed its’ nightlife.  Even the doormen at the nightclubs around town knew who Cassandra was and she relished and enjoyed all the benefits of being a local celebrity.

One night that Cassandra was in a mood to enjoy the evening and have some fun turned out to be a lot more than she expected.  Cassandra went out with her friends and for the first time in a while didn’t have her knife attached to her side.  The nightclub bouncers had started giving her warnings about wearing her knife and informed her that their bosses were giving them flack for letting her in the clubs with it on, so this particular night she left it at home.  It turned out to be a good thing.  For had she had her knife, things may have gone a whole lot differently.

So when Cassandra and her posse of local drug celebrities walked into the nightclub, everyone noticed them.  Cassandra was in the front as her group stopped to survey the crowd.  Cassandra stood there in her attire which was comprised of her always worn eel skin cowboy boots with tight fitting jeans with a white tee shirt of polished cotton topped with a tan suede vest, and a suede belt to match.  She also wore her Clark Kent glasses with the lenses taken out to reveal a face flawlessly done with an impeccable makeup job.  All of the men in the club were immediately attracted to Cassandra’s look and extremely intrigued by her posse that seemed to cater to her like a queen.

Cassandra moved first as her posse followed.  Then all of a sudden she stopped and they all stopped with her.  She saw him across the room sitting at the bar drinking all alone.  It was none other than Steve himself.  The man she had immediately fallen in love with who had asked her to sit down and ‘talk to her’ on that fateful night in the apartment below hers in Casa de Esperanza.  She ordered and paid for drinks for her entire crew as she always did and then excused herself to go and talk to Steve.  He seemed to be waiting.  He seemed to be waiting for her; and who was she to disappoint.

She walked up to Steve feeling like a million bucks in her tight fitting jeans and on top of the world unlike the naïve girl that he originally met.  He didn’t even look up as he said, “Hello Cassandra, I see your world has changed.”  She stared at him as he looked at his drink and refused to look up at her and once again fell deeply in love with his deep and hypnotic voice.  Finally she said, “So where did you disappear too? I thought I would see you again a lot sooner than this.”  He slowly responded in his deep voice seeming to know the effect it had on Cassandra’s entire being, he seemed to know that he owned her, she was powerless when she was around him; he turned and looked deep into her eyes and said, “I will be there when I am supposed to be there and eventually I will be there always.”  Cassandra’s knees got weak as for the first time he mentioned a future, a future she had hoped for, a future with him.

They continued to stare at each other as he invited her to sit down.  She sat down and looked deep into his sapphire blue eyes as he seemed to undress her soul.  She was once again a naïve little girl under his powerful stare.  He finally smiled and then chuckled as he told her, “You need to relax my little flower.”  She got her strength back at his cheesy line and said, “A flower with thorns Mister Steve.”  He said, “Oh my, I guess so! Good thing I wear gloves.” As he grabbed her from her barstool by quickly placing his hand in the small of her back and lifting her to his quick standing body and kissing her deeply while all of her strength and resolve was lost to his desire and all her desire was given to his strength and resolve.

He finally released her and continued to hold her up as if he knew she was unable to stand on her own.  He again looked deep into her eyes signing the ethereal contract of eternal love with his intense stare as a small tear came out of the corner of her right eye.  He wiped the tear away and then released her and bent closely to whisper in her ear, “This is only the beginning of our love in this lifetime. I have been waiting for a very long time for you to return.”

He told her, “I will see you soon”, and then he walked away as she was unable to move. Her posse who had been quietly and politely watching from a distance ran up as soon as Steve was out of eyesight and couldn’t believe what they had witnessed.  Her friend Shannon who led the posse in running up to her spoke first, “Who was that!?!”  Cassandra told them of how she had met Steve in her withdrawn and wispy voice and said he seemed to have some power over her.  She confessed to them all that she truly felt she was in love with him and would spend the rest of her life with him.  She had no idea at the time, she had spent many lifetimes with him and would spend ‘all’ of her lives with him.  He was indeed, her soulmate.

Cassandra and her crew had a great time the rest of the evening while dancing and drinking and then three girls who had been dancing close to them seemed to take a sudden interest in them.  They were standing off to the side and whispering and then laughing as they pointed at Cassandra and her crew.  Cassandra in her new aggressive Chrystal Meth charged attitude was not someone these girls wanted to mess with and usually her knife did the talking but tonight she wasn’t wearing it and these girls were in for a surprise.

Then Cassandra went to the bathroom and one of the three secretive and openly cackling girls quickly stepped in front of Cassandra and caused her to spill her drink.  The drink had spilled all over Cassandra’s new suede vest and she was pissed.  She took a few breaths and calmed down and excused herself to go pass them and avoid a confrontation.  The three girls weren’t having it; they blocked her way.  The leader of the three girls said, “Listen miss Ca-saaaan-draaaaah! Yeah, we know your name and we’ve seen you around town and we know you think you’re the shit but you’re not! ...”  Cassandra started to get more pissed off!  Heads were gonna roll. It was like in her mind she was becoming Tammy in all of her tiger power.  Cassandra didn’t even let the lead girl finish her speech.  In a catlike move unfamiliar to even herself, Cassandra spun around and kicked the lead girl in the side of her head and then the lead girl went flying into the barstools on the side of the wall as the second girl stepped up and Cassandra slapped her with a left handed backhand and then punched her with all of her might with her right fist; the girl fell right where she stood as the third girl went to kick Cassandra as Cassandra quickly stepped back and then cupped and webbed her own hands together and caught the girls kicking foot as it missed and dropped and then flipped her in the air just like in the movies as the girl flew up and landed dead flat on her back.  The crowd was mesmerized by the fight and the quick action.  Cassandra stood their panting and pissed.  At the same time she was pissed she was also exhilarated with the energy from beating these three girls in a glorious fight.  Cassandra had a smile on her face as her posse ran up and surrounded her and asked if she was okay while the girls lay in fear on the floor.

Suddenly a bouncer grabbed Cassandra and said, “That’s it Cassandra, you’ve been nothing but trouble with your crew and your knife carrying ways!  You are out of here!  Take your posse and leave!”  Cassandra and her crew were ceremoniously thrown out of the club as everyone watched.  Cassandra couldn’t believe the turn of events of the night and the roller coaster ride it was.  First, she finally saw Steve again and it was everything she could have hoped for and then she was attacked by three female hyenas that she was forced to get violent with; all she could think of was, thank God she didn’t have her knife, she may have ended up in big trouble.  And when would she see Steve again.
