Convertible Clowns XVII: Apollo

CONVERTIBLE CLOWNS XVII: APOLLO

Apollo and I were once again enjoying some down time on Ethereal Lake and both of us were happy over our victory over Treacherous Tina, Creepy Craig, and Lucky Chucky.  Since it was our first battle we were pleased but more importantly, we were pleased that Annabelle was safe to achieve and accomplish her chosen destiny.  Apollo was opening up to me about his life on Earth back in the days of Rome.  He told me how he had served as a Chariot Horse for gladiators in the Coliseum and how he eventually died in a very serious chariot accident after serving many years in the battles.

Surprisingly, Apollo said he didn’t mind being a Chariot Horse because they were fed quite well and bathed and groomed regularly.  He did, however, feel sorry for the gladiators and slaves that lost their lives in the battles but for him life was not that bad.  He told me of how many offspring he had sired since he was a stallion in demand and he felt good about leaving a legacy of heirs on Earth, many of whom he had met in the Afterlife.

Ethereal Lake was one of the most beautiful places in the afterlife.  The lake itself was as large as an earth ocean but it was calm and without large waves; it just rippled with serenity.  The color of the lake was a beautiful earthly sky blue.  The birds that flew around the lake were majestic in the way they flew with their large wingspans.  Occasionally you would see a rabbit come out of the forest and drink from the lake.  Since the lake was so large, you could enjoy the lake alone or you could choose a spot with others near you.  Apollo and I mostly enjoyed the grass and trees that surrounded the lake that provided great resting spots.

While we were enjoying the pleasurable surroundings of Ethereal Lake, Luke arrived.  Luke said he was sorry to interrupt our rest but our services were needed once again.  Since we were so successful and we were also new in warfare, it was decided that we would face this new battle so soon in regards to keeping up our training.  Luke had a worried look on his face as he looked at Apollo and then after looking at Apollo for a long time he looked at me.  He said, “This battle will be much different than your first.  In this battle you will be facing only one clown but their will be more than one demon.”  I looked at Apollo and in the ego of our recently won battle I said, “I’m sure it won’t be a problem for us.”

For some reason Luke once again gave Apollo a sorrowful look.  He then looked back at me and said, “You’ll need to have confidence for sure in this battle but don’t be assured of a victory.”  He looked back at Apollo and said, “At least not a clean victory.”  He then continued as he looked solemnly at me and said, “In this battle you will need to protect and save a child named Andrew.  Andrew’s mission in life is by far one of the greatest and his selection as a chosen one was well thought out.  Therefore, the Dark Lord has dispatched his most viscous and cruel assassin in the demon Dante.  To assist Dante, the Dark Lord has sent the clown Charlie the Chump and the demon Jeannie the Junkie.  The two demons and this clown are some of the worst that the underworld has to offer.  This is a final test and challenge in your training and I wish you the best.

As Luke left, I stood up and rubbed Apollo’s mane as we mentally prepared for the battle.  I wondered why Luke spent so much time staring at Apollo while telling us of this new mission.  I then thought about how good it would feel to once again dispatch the Dark Lords minions back to the underworld with another message of ‘not any more’.  I then put on my armor and mounted my friend and horse Apollo as we headed to the earthly realm to save Andrew.  I would make sure this mission was safe and send Charlie the Chump, Jeannie the Junkie, and Dante back to where they belonged, the underworld.
