THE ETERNALS
I: CASSANDRA’S AWAKE
by

Cassandra had remembered a lot of her
past, but she hadn’t remembered it all…
Not by far. Of course she had
remembered her deep love for Steve and his soul from the first moment she met
him and he spoke to her but a lot of her other memories still had not
returned.
It was a thousand years ago when the last
‘Eternal’ gave birth to one of their own kind and thereby bringing one of their
own back into the mortal coil of life.
For some reason, they had lost the ability to reproduce on their own. All of the Eternals at that time started
coming through select humans who specifically had psychic and empathic
abilities to help the process of the Eternals remembering their previous
existences, or lives so to speak. The
last Eternal to personally give birth was Tammy who was then married to
Ramon. Surprisingly so, that rebirth was
to Cassandra. Cassandra herself was actually
known as the last Eternal who had rebirthed into the Eternal family itself;
that life was of course before this current one she was living.
Now days, families were specifically
chosen to rebirth the Eternals based on the genetic lineage of the family and its
history of psychic abilities.
Cassandra’s mother Helen had been especially chosen due to her families
long line of spiritual abilities dating back to Helen’s early German ancestry
and its powerful ties to spirituality in that region. Helen’s family knew exactly what they were
involved in and they were rewarded heavily, financially speaking. Not counting the fact that they appreciated,
respected, and even enjoyed and looked forward to helping the Eternals whenever
they could. Helen loved Cassandra.
Helen knew from the moment Cassandra was
conceived that she was going to have to give her up to her true family. She also knew that Cassandra would outlive
her by hundreds of years, possibly more.
Helen also knew that she could never break the pact that she and her
family had made with the Eternals by revealing any truths to Cassandra about
her real family or any of her abilities. Helen also knew that she loved Cassandra more
than anything the moment she was born.
She also knew that she was going to have to let Cassandra go and there
was nothing she could do about it.
Helen’s great grandmother had given birth to an Eternal and explained to
Helen that the separation was the most difficult thing she had ever endured but
it had to happen as all Eternals usually return to their original family or at
least leave altogether. One way or
another, they always leave…
Cassandra also remembered one of her and
Steve’s most glorious lifetimes. They
had been commissioned by the tribe of Eternals to perform a very specific task
for mankind as a whole. They lived in
Egypt and were king and queen of a glorious empire. Steve had been given a very important job
that was deemed necessary for the progress of the spirituality of man. Humans had come to understand that there was
a higher power and had started calling that higher power God. The problem was, humans in their combined
lack of understanding and learning to understand had decided everything that
had a pulse or even a name had a God.
Humans were worshiping God’s in all forms. To say that humans were under a system of
polytheism, as in worshiping many Gods, was an understatement. Humans worshiped everything from chickens to
cows, and from rice to wheat. They were
out of control in their confusion.
As king of Egypt, or Pharaoh as he was
called, Steve was tasked to bring humanity away from worshiping false God’s or
in the true sense, God’s that did not actually exist. It was a difficult task and would bring Egypt
as a civilization to its knees.
Everywhere you looked in the beginning of Steve’s reign you could see a
temple dedicated to a different God of animal, mineral, or vegetable. The journey would bring Steve and his wife
many enemies. You see, Steve was
Akhenaten, the father of monotheism.
Steve was the first leader in mankind’s history to develop and bring
forth the idea of only one God. And of
course, his soulmate and wife Cassandra, was none other than the great
Nefertiti.
Together they ruled over Egypt during the
eighteenth dynasty and did their best to bring about positive change which was
their mission. They ruled for seventeen
years. Sadly, soon after Akhenaten’s
death, Egypt returned to polytheism and started again worshipping many
Gods. But due to Steve’s efforts and
Cassandra’s support, the idea of monotheism and only worshipping one God was
born. Theirs was a difficult but
wondrous journey but the two of them had been through their lives
together. They had helped bring humanity
to its current and arguably flourishing point of existence but the job of the
Eternals was not over at all to say the least.
The leader of the spiritual underworld
commonly known as The Dark Lord had an existing and ongoing war with the
Eternals. The Lord of the underworld
hated The Eternals and despised their existence on Earth. The Dark Lord felt it was a complete betrayal
of life itself that they got to live their lives out in the mortal coil of life
and thereby not giving him the chance to possess their very souls. However, a few Eternals had forsaken life on
Earth and had actually made it to the underworld and they were the worst and
most despicable evil clowns one could imagine and a few had even progressed and
actually became demons.
The Dark Lord was aware that there had
been a new rebirthing of Eternals and also knew that one of the most powerful
and important Eternals was in the new cycle of rebirths. That Eternal was none other than Cassandra
herself. Cassandra’s ability to see and
predict the future was a gift that many in the spiritual world wanted to possess
and the Dark Lord was definitely one who wanted to take advantage of her gift. He had suffered a few losses lately and
having Cassandra by his side would have prevented that completely.
The location of the new rebirthing of
Eternals had been discovered by The Dark Lord and he was planning to take
Cassandra and use her for his own purposes.
He would not fail this time in his attempt to capture her. He knew he would only have one chance. He used his knowledge in finding the current
location of the rebirthing. He knew that
the Eternals always used a city that was on the same latitudinal line as
Bethlehem for some God forsaken reason which he refused to even gather or try
and process. He always felt it was some
silly attachment to another famous resurrection that he forbid anyone to talk
about…
The Lord of the underworld revered and
referred to as His Royal Darkness would send one of his most diabolical clowns
seeking promotion to demon to capture Cassandra. He would send someone who actually knew both
Steve and Cassandra from a previous life.
He would task a clown who actually came from their very own lineage who
despised them almost as much as he did…
He would send Sinister Seth.
So there they were, both Steve and
Cassandra standing on the porch of the house where Cassandra had met Steve and
accepted a role in The Eternals once again.
There they were looking into each other’s eyes thinking of puddles and
rain… They turned to leave the house and
return to the City of Eternals where there true home resided and then they saw
him. It was standing there staring at
both of them with complete malice in its empty heart. It was none other than their former family
member and current servant of The Dark Lord currently and for the rest of time
going by the name of Sinister Seth.
