CASSANDRA II:
THE HOUSE OF HOPE
by

Cassandra arrived in the city that was new to her and was ready to move
into Casa de Esperanza with a distinct air of rebirth about her. She loved the city itself for it was so
welcoming on all fronts. She had never
felt so at home all at once and especially so at home in an entire city
before. Cassandra couldn’t believe when
she was eating lunch outside at a fast food restaurant on her first day in the
city and a Sparrow landed on her table and ate a French fry right out of her
hand. Cassandra always knew Sparrows to
be one of the most fearful species of birds on Earth so the fearless act of the
bird was surprising to her. Something
was different about the city and more importantly, something was extremely
different about Casa de Esperanza.
As her skill of predetermining events and knowledge
knew, Cassandra easily qualified and moved into Casa de Esperanza. After a while something strange occurred to
Cassandra; it occurred to her that everyone in the apartment building had the
same first and last initials. Was this a
sign? Cassandra’s name was Cassandra
Caliente and her next door neighbors name was Billy Blankenship and the woman
who lived opposite her on the same floor was named Leslie Longtale. The same initials for first and last names
seemed to involve every single person in the entire apartment complex. For some people this would seem just an odd
coincidence but for Cassandra, she knew there was more in the meaning. Something was afoot and Cassandra was
actually pleased that she felt and saw an incredible and enlightening adventure
on the horizon.
Late one evening, Cassandra was visiting a
new friend who lived on the level below her in the apartment building. Her new friends name was Mitch Masters. Mitch was an old man who just entertained
local young people visiting his apartment because he was lonely. Cassandra was there late that night enjoying
the nice music and pleasant company when all of a sudden she decided she would
leave. A mysterious man had come in
earlier and sat in the recliner near Cassandra.
As Cassandra announced her departure and thanked everyone for their
company, the mysterious young man said to Cassandra without looking at her,
“Sit down and stay a while.” And then he
said three simple words, “Talk to me.”
Cassandra couldn’t move, she was spiritually mesmerized. Who was this man? Who was this person? He seemed to know her. Somehow she knew he seemed to know things
like she knew things. She would fall in
love with him for the remainder of her life.
Finally she had met another.
Cassandra had met another like her who knew destiny and destiny
knew. He was her soulmate. His name was Steve. She would never know his last name or if he
even had one. Steve was different and
Cassandra felt it to and through her core.
Cassandra sat down beside him as his
soothing and magical voice had instructed and talked to Steve as she was clearly
and openly for some mysterious reason mesmerized by his presence and again and more
importantly, his voice. His voice seemed
to sooth her in a way she had never been soothed and her being felt calmer than
it had ever felt. She was his and he
knew it. She hoped he was hers. As she looked at him he smiled an almost
sinister smile of knowing possession of his unsuspecting prey. Whether his intentions were good or not, she
could not tell. She didn’t care. She liked the concept of not knowing when it
came to this man and she enjoyed the feeling of hope that surrounded all of her
desires towards him. They talked for
hours but what seemed like only minutes to Cassandra. He finally left the gathering as she sat
there changed for all time. What would
she do without him if he never returned? He was gone.
Cassandra went on with her life while
living at Casa de Esperanza and often could think about nothing more than
Steve. Where had he come from? Where did he go? Who was he and would he reenter her life? He had to.
He was the first and only person who ever seemed to actually see
her. He was the first and only person
that she actually wanted to see. He
disappeared as fast as he appeared; no one seemed to know him and he seemed to
know no one. At least that’s what
everyone said. Although Cassandra was
lost, it was a usual feeling so she eventually overcame the loss of Steve.
Then suddenly one of the main reasons for
Cassandra moving into Esperanza appeared.
Her name was Tammy; Tammy Townsend.
She was a woman of serious and blatant infamy for everyone cowered
around her with a complete and sincere level of fear. Tammy was someone that everyone in the
apartment complex knew. Tammy was a well-known
drug dealer that the entire city respected and feared at the same time. She was known as Tammy to some and Mia to
others; Mia with the beautiful eyes.
Tammy had spiritually circled Cassandra with her energy and physically
circled her with her cat like stare and decided that she had passed the test to
become her protégé. Tammy knew, Tammy
enjoyed, and Tammy understood that the universe and its spiritual elements were only
using her to further train Cassandra for her own date with destiny. Tammy was also one of them.
Tammy had supplied all of the drugs to the
people in Esperanza who used drugs as well as to most of the people in the
city. For Tammy, the sale of drugs was
only a hobby and an entryway into people’s lives. You see, Tammy needed people, she needed their
energy amongst other things. Tammy was sometimes
involved in the dark arts. Tammy had
been involved in the dark arts for over a thousand years. Tammy was what the world had come to secretly
love and be continually fascinated with but the world was actually so far from
the truth in what they thought she was and how she or a person like her came to
be; Tammy and her kind laughed at the movies about her ancestors and the way
the world fictionalized their existence and their lives… You see, Tammy was a direct descendant of
Vlad the Impaler, the first one of Tammy’s kind to make himself known to common
earthlings. Tammy’s ancestor and a
member of her bloodline was the original vampire Dracula.
